CAROB DRINK

Carob powder is a naturally sweet, caffeine-free alternative to cocoa powder, commonly used in various recipes from baked goods to beverages. Popular recipes include hot carob drinkscarob brownies, and no-bake carob bars. 

Hot (or Cold) Carob Drink (Quick & Easy)

This warm beverage is a soothing alternative to hot chocolate. 
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 cup milk (dairy, almond, soy, etc.)
    • 1 tablespoon carob powder
    • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Instructions:
    1. Combine the milk and carob powder in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly to remove any lumps.
    2. Stir in the sweetener and vanilla extract.
    3. Heat the mixture until it reaches your desired temperature, but do not let it boil.
    4. Pour into a mug and enjoy. 

Alternatively, serve chilled over ice for a refreshing, cooling drink.

No-Bake Chewy Carob Squares

These provide a satisfying, healthy snack without needing an oven. 
  • Ingredients:
    • ½ cup coconut oil
    • 1 cup carob powder 
    • ½ cup honey or maple syrup
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 ½ cups crispy rice cereal (or puffed wheat/rice)
    • ¾ cup sunflower seeds (optional)
  • Instructions:
    1. In a separate bowl, combine the crispy rice and sunflower seeds, then set aside.
    2. Use a double boiler (or a metal bowl set over a pot of simmering water) to gently melt the coconut oil and carob chips together, stirring constantly.
    3. Once melted, quickly stir in the honey, salt, and vanilla extract.
    4. Combine the melted carob mixture with the cereal mixture.
    5. Press the mixture firmly into a 9×9 inch pan lined with parchment paper.
    6. Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to harden completely before cutting into squares.
