HAPPY HENHOUSE “POPCORN CHICKEN”
Light, crunchy, and packed with flavour, this Popcorn Chicken is made using Cocavo’s Happy Henhouse white meat style protein, coated in a bold Southern-style seasoning for the perfect crispy bite.
Deep fry for an ultra-crunchy finish or air fry for a lighter take—either way, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Serve with your favourite dipping sauce for the ultimate snack!
Ingredients
Serves 2
- 250g Happy Henhouse Diced Plant Protein
- Oil for frying
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Southern Fried Coating
- 100g paprika or similar spiced crisps
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Instructions
Prior to cooking, rehydrate the Happy Henhouse White Meat Style Pieces.
- Combine Southern Fried Coating ingredients.
- Coat the hydrated white meat style Pieces evenly with salt and pepper
- Dip each piece into the coating ensuring thorough coating
- Heat oil to 180℃
- Deep fry the coated white meat style Pieces for approximately 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown and extra crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain the oil temperature.
Air Frying (Alternative):
- Preheat the air fryer.
- Place coated pieces in a single layer, ensuring to not overcrowd the pan.
- Spray with oil and air fry for 12 minutes, turning the pieces at 6 minutes.
Serve with your favourite sauces, such as mayonnaise or hot sauce.
